Youth Led Food Co-Op Project
Our Soul Food Co-op will do more than just feed the body. We want to help young people develop the skills they need to work well with others, do good work in their community, understand the in’s and out’s of business, and proactively target any food insecurity; this helps feed their souls.
Help us start a successful youth-led food co-op slated to start summer 2017. The project is sponsored by Miriam Group, a local non-profit group, but we can’t do it alone; we need your support. If you or someone you know has experience in food co-op operations, the ability to volunteer for this worthy cause, or even if you are interested in donating, please contact us.
The Goal for Soul Scholar’s Soul Food Co-op:
- Making meaningful connections with local farmers, community member’s and leaders
- Managing and operating a business and free food store
- Marketing, advertising, and customer service experience
- Working as a team to meet their own needs and that of their community
